Earthquake map of The World

Show List in the menu bar above will show the list of biggest earthquakes that have occurred within 24 hours of the last download time. Click on the 'Show Map' part of the menu bar above to see the recent earthquakes map for The World area. Up to the time we accessed the USGS database on Wed, 10 Mar 2010 at 08:17 there have been 7 major earthquakes so far today. These are shown on the map along with earlier major earthquakes.

How to use the map

You may zoom in and out by using the control arrows on the top left-hand side of the map, and you may switch on and off the overlays by expanding the box behind the white plus '+' sign on the right-hand side of the map. The overlays available are a) within 24hrs, b) 2-7days, c) 8-14days, d) 15-30days, e) 31-60days. Any of the map markers may be clicked to see the details of individual earthquakes, and major earthquakes are denoted by a red flashing dot in the centre of the marker.
